Rivers to the Sea
Le Sacre de Printemps (The Rite of Spring)
During 60 years of music-making, Kensington Symphony Orchestra has built an enviable reputation as one of the UK's most accomplished and adventurous non-professional orchestras. Established classics, neglected masterpieces and works by today's leading composers are hallmarks of KSO's repertoire, performed with a skill and panache that has garnered praise from all quarters.
Causing a riot at its first performance in 1913, the unrelenting, barbaric music of The Rite of Spring still has the power to shock. Till Eulenspiegel is Strauss at his most witty and nimble whilst Rivers to the Sea, commissioned by the Philharmonia Orchestra for its 2012 season, has a symphonic structure in four sharply contrasting movements.
