Two chamber operas presented by The Opera Box and The Music Troupe Mozart The Impresario Edward Lambert The Oval Portrait Life & art: The Impresario & The Oval Portrait in association with The Opera Box Following the success of their 2016 production at The Totally Thames Festival, The Opera Box have teamed up with The Music Troupe to bring you two contrasting takes on the themes of art and life. The Oval Portrait is a new semi-opera by Edward Lambert based on Edgar Allen Poe's short story which tells of a visitor at a remote castle who is disturbed by the portrait of a young woman: he learns that as her husband painted her, the picture came alive, while she lived on only in his art... Mozart's The Impresario is a light-hearted take on the dilemmas that face theatre companies when dealing with divas. Set in the present day, Mark Burns' new English translation shows us just how much things have not changed in the 230 years since this piece was first performed.
