About

Family Open Day Come and visit one of only two Grade 1 industrial buildings in London. It is the most extravagant of all the grand pumping stations using steam to pump sewage through Joseph Bazalgettes famous sewer system devised in the 1860's in response to the 'Great Stink' Something for all including an organised craft activity for children 4 years plus accompanied by an adult. The engine 'Prince Consort' will be under steam. For local visitors or for visitors without their own transport there is a coach, operated by Ebdons Tours running a shuttle service to and from Abbey Wood Railway Station throughout the day. Admission details including cost are on the website There is a new museum, plus a shop and cafe for refreshments.

From Abbey Wood station take stairway to road over railway (A2041). Walk northwards (via a roundabout) to a signposted sliproad. At T-junction (Sewell Road) turn right and walk to end of road. There will be a shuttle bus running on some open days, please check website for further information.
