Katherine Jenkins at Royal Albert Hall

The glamorous mezzo-soprano and classical crossover artist from Neath, South Wales, performs songs from her albums Believe and The Ultimate Collection, both released at the latter end of 2009. Katherine Jenkins first came to prominence in 2004 with the album Premiere, which reached number one in the UK classical chart. The LP brought together traditional Welsh songs with enduring favourites such as Ave Maria and The Lord Is My Shepherd. Later that same year, she released her second album, Second Nature, which also reached number one in the UK classical charts and number 16 in the combined album charts, making her the first classical artist to break the top 20, as well as the biggest selling classical artist of 2004. She has released a further seven albums in five years, totalling in excess of four million sales, and she remains the only artist to win consecutive Classical BRIT Awards for Album Of The Year for Second Nature in 2005 and Living A Dream in 2006. Her autobiography Time To Say Hello..., released in 2008, chronicles her extraordinary rise from Welsh church choir girl to international superstar. Compounding her success, Jenkins took on the role of mentor and judge on the ITV1 reality series Popstar To Operastar alongside tenor Rolando Villazon, designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and rock icon Meat Loaf. Her appeal as both a classical artist and pop diva continues to grow across the generations, bridging the divide between the two branches of music.
