Trace Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio’s revolutionary impact on the evolution of European art with Beyond Caravaggio at the National Gallery.

Bringing together more than 50 works from renowned museums and private collections across the UK, the exhibition focuses on the ripple effect which the artist had on his fellow painters. See how Caravaggio’s dramatic lighting and iconic storytelling techniques were taken on board by artists such as Valentin de Boulogne, Gerrit van Honthorst and Orazio Gentileschi.

The display provides an original insight into Caravaggio’s talent: a great figure emerges from the observation of his context and the cultural environment of his time.
