Have a magical Christmas in Greenwich this year, with fabulous festive lights, a market boasting top gift ideas, and Santa making a special appearance to the delight of kids and grown-ups.
Join in the festive spirit with the school children’s Greenwich Lantern Procession on 22 November (4pm to 6pm). Follow the parade, led by a jazz band, from The Visitor Centre, Old Royal Naval College, through Cutty Sark Gardens and into Greenwich Market. Here, watch the switch-on of the twinkling Christmas lights by characters from this year’s Greenwich Theatre pantomime, Cinderella. Stay to see local children perform on stage in the Angelina Jandolo Dance Showcase.
After the Lantern Procession, kids will have the opportunity to meet Santa in his cosy Greenwich Grotto in Durnford Street. Don’t worry if you can’t make it that day: Santa and his elves are back from 13 to 24 December with gift bags full of unique treats.
Find beautiful Christmas gifts as historic Greenwich Market lights up for Christmas. The market is open every day in the run-up to Christmas, from 27 November until 24 December. Set within a world heritage site, the covered market showcases more than 150 stalls selling crafts, jewellery, fashion, beauty, antiques, art and more, as well as festive street food and drinks to get you in the Christmas spirit.
