You can also watch the match live on TV in London: enjoy a pint with your football and soak up the atmosphere in a traditional English pub or in one of London's dedicated sports bars.

For those not so keen on seeing the football game, a hot tip is to hit the shops – they're usually nice and quiet during the match!

History of the FA Cup and Wembley Stadium

The FA Cup is the oldest and longest-running football (soccer) competition in the world and was first held in 1871-72 with entries from 15 clubs. Since then, the FA Cup has grown considerably and each year several hundred teams enter the competition.

The FA Cup final is traditionally played at London's Wembley Stadium, but extensive renovations to the venue meant it was held in Wales at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium from 2001 to 2006. In 2007, the FA Cup once again returned to Wembley Stadium.

The FA Cup Final: Past and Present

What makes the FA Cup so exciting is that it's a knockout tournament, featuring teams from all levels of competition. Entry is open to all professional English teams in the Premier League and Football League. Certain other clubs from the English Football League system are also eligible.

So, as the season progresses, you may see a small local team play one of the world's biggest and best, often with thrilling results.

For sports and football fans alike, this is a London event that's not to be missed.

In 2017, London club Arsenal secured the trophy and now holds a record 13 FA Cup wins after defeating Chelsea by two goals to one.
