A grandes rasgos

Dulwich Park covers 29 hectares and is packed with historic features, exciting facilities and perfect picnic spots.

Refurbished in 2006, the Green Flag Award winning park offers a large children's playground, an excellent cafe and a popular cycle hire outlet. The Francis Peek centre has a varied programme of activities to suit everyone.

Created in 1890, Dulwich Park started its life as farmland and a group of meadows known as "five fields"; many of the ancient boundary oaks survive today.

Queen Mary was a regular visitor to the park; she loved to view the American Garden, famous for its rhododendrons which are spectacular when they are in bloom in May. One of the park gates is named after her.

It is nice. Which is all I can say.

Maybe I had high expectations when I looked out the window, saw flawless sun and decided to take the short bus ride here.

Yes Dulwich is nice. Cute. But when we get into the park and wandered round, there was a distinct feeling of 'is this it?'

Little bit of pond, lots of grass, little cafe selling ice creams and what not.

As has been mentioned... Más información

This is where I have faithfully

parked for the 10 years I've been traveling for work. Yes, it's offset,

and, yes, it takes a little longer than if you self park in the parking

construction but the Park ladies pick you up and drop you off right at

your car (no wandering around the structure at 11pm trying to catch my car,

beeping my alarm sufficient times that any ambling bad guy can meet me... Más información

A lush park with lots of lovely plantings. Comparing it with Brockwell, which I'd passed through shortly before, it looks like there's more money around. They have a variety of different garden areas including a dry garden (which I liked) and an American Garden. The latter I found a little disappointing. I was intrigued by the name, since I wasn't really aware of an American style of gardens.... Más información

Not really sure how Malcolm, below, can only award this park 3 stars. I think it's the nicest park I've found in London, all things considered.

It's location; right in Dulwich. Next to the Village. It certainly beats the locale of other parks like Southwark and Ruskin.

Amenities; bike hire, boat hire, play parks for the kids, surprisingly nice toilets, cafes, ice cream vans, horse riding...... Más información
