This is very close to the Houses of Parliament and the underground stop, Embankment. I was there to catch the boat down river since we were heading to the Tate Modern Gallery. This was something of a "river bus" but you can also catch some Thames River boats from here to see the touristy side of London from the river.more
Thames Clippers are the largest employers of ticket checkers in the world.
I bought a ticket on the street near Embankment, was asked to show it on the dock. Was asked again to see it on the water. And again departing the boat. It was tougher getting through Immigration at LHR.

Quick, fun, inexpensive...
On my recent visit to London, I realized I had never taken the boat along the Thames... SHAME! What another way to see the city! I used my travel card to supplement the cost between my stops from Embankment to Greenwich. A nice way to bring variety to getting about.

One of the few Thames River Tours that goes out to the barrier.
Bring your Oyster Card (if its loaded with a travel card) and get 1/3 discount. Well worth the trip just to spend the day out on the water drinking Pimms or beer.

Thames Clipper runs along the river from the London Eye to Greenwich, with stops in between at various piers. An "open secret", it's way more comfortable than the Tube and only slightly more expensive than a Zone 1 to Zone 2 ticket.
