This is one of those pubs that I have walked past hundreds of times but for some reason never been in! Went in for a pint the other weekend and found it to be perfectly serviceable if nothing special. There's something I can't quite put my finger on - I just found it to lack a bit of character. Perhaps the tables were a bit uniform? On the other hand, I was really drawn to the art on the walls...more
Another Saturday, another meal at a delicious dog friendly pub.
This time it was The Garden Gate right by Hampstead Heath station. I ordered a selection of starters including scotch eggs, feta arancini balls and chips with cheese and gravy.

Prices are standard pub values; I had a chorizo and chicken skewer with quinoa and radish salad for £9.50 it was pretty...more

And Garden Gate accomplished all of the above. Sitting outside, sipping some white wine there on...more
I don't know if this is always the case but the food here was terrible. Low quality produce and cooked terribly. My beef roast came out and it looked horrendous - and was. I wasn't at all impressed but when my five other friends food came out there's was just as bad - fish and chips, roast pork loin, Mac and cheese. It was al really poor.
Not a pub for food.more
