Visitors to the British Museum who have absorbed enough culture would do well to visit the Museum Tavern across the street. Here they can absorb culture of a different kind; much of the carved wooden fittings, etched glass outer windows and some coloured leaded-glass detail remain. Past customers include J.B. Priestley, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Karl Marx.

Great food and a great atmosphere! I tried the fish and chips and it was delicious. Freshly made, piping hot served with peas, bread and 2 sauces. The Mac and cheese is a must do, made with a white aged British cheddar. They had a nice variety of music playing, but not too loud so you could have a conversation. Be careful of the windy staircase to the restrooms if you've had a few ;)more

A charming English pub right across from the British Museum. Besides the great location, you can also expect excellent food and service. This is an excellent pub just across from the British Museum. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. My granddaughter & I stopped in here and split a Pulled Pork Nachos for dinner. It was quite good; just perfect for us at the time.more
Nice and friendly pub near the museum where you can actually get food on a Sunday.
Food: A very generous offering of fish, chips and various sauces. All were well prepared and had good flavor. No complaints.
Drink: seemed to have a pretty large selection of ales on tap and pull.
Service: After trying to get pub food in a number of other places on our walk home it became clear that pubs do...more
