I totally want to love this place but I just can't. My husband, however, loves it. I've now been twice. The first time I ordered a slice of the chocolate cake. It was dry and needed far more frosting. The second time I ordered a chocolate chip cookie and it was actually quite good and the reason for awarding Gail's an additional star.

Gail's is such a sweet Cafe / Bakery. I am not 100% sure. It covers both areas.
I have walked past many times and I have always stopped and peered in to look at all the little naughties that they have displayed in their windows. They do know how to make your taste buds water.

A very London-style artisan boulangerie/cafe.
The soup is amazing. I ordered the mushroom soup. It's REAL mushroom soup - freshly pressed mushroom, with mushroom pieces.
Foodstuff - sandwiches, cakes and pastries are beautifully displayed.

I went for a quick takeaway and really loved the quality. I really want to go for a breakfast there as I could gossip, they have amazing looking bread, pastries, sandwiches and the coffee was top quality. So it was the pain au chocolat.
They even have a massive kitchen on the back, so I clearly need to come back. I don't think I will be disappointed.

Gail's, I was a sceptic, now I'm a believer. I was a sceptic, I guess, because of the Yummy Mummy clientele that Gail's appears to have. And the rather posh choice of ingredients. Together, I thought these would add up to overpriced and so-so produce. I must apologise, for I was wrong.
