The newest arrival to the Biagio family, Biagio @ Bankside occupies a fabulous position just off of the Southwark Bridge. Close to everything the wonderful Bankside has to offer this restaurant follows the tried and tested Biagio formula of contemporary-meets-traditional surroundings, warm Italian welcome and great value food. Authentic in every sense, the menu is a wonderful breath of fresh Italian air, combining the best of all regions with its fantastic meat and fish dishes, fresh, delicious pasta and, of course, a selection of wonderful pizzas which put the average Italian chain restaurant to shame. The large bar area provides a relaxing space in which to enjoy an aperitif or to digest your meal as you finish your evening in style.

It was just okay. The service was a bit below standard with water taking ages to get to the table and no one coming to the table to ask if we wanted to order any wine. The food just wasn't as refined as promised on the menu. The flavours were the opposite of delicate--many of the dishes were over seasoned and underwhelming. A group of six of us all had steak and none of the steaks were cooked...more
