A group of about eight of us went for dinner and drinks at the Horatia recently, and unfortunately, it fell short of what we were hoping for. The burgers were over-cooked, and the steak in the steak sandwich was so tough that one of our party could not even bite through it. I would expect a kitchen associated with the Borough Market to keep better tabs on how its original ingredients are...more
I was concerned for the fate of the Horatia when it first opened its doors, seeing as this pub has had a run of previous owners that seemed to be turning over more quickly with every change-over, but it's still going strong a few years on, and is one of the best places to grab a drink on Holloway Road. This pub has changed guise a few times recently and here is the latest incarnation, Horatia. It seems to be trying its best. There was some stand up comedy open mic event on when I visited; some of it was even funny.
Is trying to do a couple of real ales but has chosen the two most predictable options, GK IPA and fullers Lp, and my pint of the former didn't taste too good either.
