Fancy food and beer in a bank vault? That's what the Belgo in Holborn is offering as a converted former Lloyds bank, with the bank vault having been transformed into a Belgian beer cellar! Despite the building's history, the decor is contemporary and relaxing, but it's the beer list which is truly eye-catching, with over 250 beverages to choose from. The food is typically Belgian, offering treats such as Belgian Sausages, mussels and frites with mayonnaise, and a wide range of meat and vegetarian dishes. There are many fantastic, money-saving special offers throughout the year, but with even a three-course meal served at a reasonable price, this is one gastronomic experience that won't break the bank - even if it's in one.

Nice venue, they have quite a big selection of Belgian beers (with traditional glasses of course) including the famous Kwak. But, the beers are a bit on the pricey side. Saying that, I would go back. If you're a fan of mussels, they also serve 'moules et frittes'.more

Most of us had the mussels, I was feeling adventurous and tried the Thai version which was very tasty! Just spicy enough and well seasoned. They had a wide choice of beers and the waitress knew just what to recommend as I normally only like dark beers,...more

Food was good. The bread is plain. Desserts are really plain......nothing 'belgian' about the crepe/waffle. Service was quite needs to make sure that there are enough experienced staff on hand to man the tables on weekends. The staff forgot to place a few of the food orders....which meant having to remind the staff about them 20 mins later. We ended up cancelling the...more

I've not been to Belgo in a while, as it is a very touristy place, but on this occasion I was pleasantly surprised. While the menu is not very adventurous with the usual suspects, they still do a very good kilo pot of mussels and chips. And at not too bad a price either.

Will I go back? Probably not as there's so much more exciting food in London. But if I have tourists or need to choose a...more

This location is mediocre compared to the original - weak service despite being empty and loud obnoxious clientele.more
