Fancy food and beer in a bank vault? That's what the Belgo in Holborn is offering as a converted former Lloyds bank, with the bank vault having been transformed into a Belgian beer cellar! Despite the building's history, the decor is contemporary and relaxing, but it's the beer list which is truly eye-catching, with over 250 beverages to choose from. The food is typically Belgian, offering treats such as Belgian Sausages, mussels and frites with mayonnaise, and a wide range of meat and vegetarian dishes. There are many fantastic, money-saving special offers throughout the year, but with even a three-course meal served at a reasonable price, this is one gastronomic experience that won't break the bank - even if it's in one.

On a busy night, without a reservation they were able to find us a table. Hooray!
The staff were great & the food was agreeable & the portions very large.
I had mussels, my husband the chicken. Fabulous selection of beer.
The restaurant/ bar was VERY noisy. The noisiest place I have ever been. It was difficult to have any conversation. Everyone seemed to be having a grande time.
I wish they...more
There are a few Belgo locations throughout the city but this has to be my favourite. Only partially because I am always near it.
This location can be less busy that others during the day, but does get quite crowded during the evenings. The crowd varies, it is close to the major uni's so sometimes it is full of younger students, and other times not.
The menu recently changed, which in my...more
Came here with a few friends for an event. There were six of us and we all agreed that the food, service, and beer list was a hit. The reason I can't award the 5th star is because the mussels were just ok. If they matched the outstanding beer selection and service it would be 5 stars all the way. Still, a cool place to go especially if you enjoy Belgium beer and a fun embiance.more
I miss the old Belgos menu. It seems more 'Americanised ', now, with burgers and barbecue sauces, also the menu on the mussels had changed offering a more Asian influence on the pot of mussels menu.
to tell you the truth I was confused by the Menu and a little disappointed but what I had, the half Lobster, was clean fresh and nice enough.
The drinks menu with its endless list of beers,...more
Nice venue, they have quite a big selection of Belgian beers (with traditional glasses of course) including the famous Kwak. But, the beers are a bit on the pricey side. Saying that, I would go back. If you're a fan of mussels, they also serve 'moules et frittes'.more
