I stumbled upon the Prince of Wales my 3rd week in London on my way to visit a potential client. I was hungry and popped in for a beer and some chips. The bartender was really cool and friendly. The place was clean, the beer selection was good and so were the chips. They even have a really nice big screen where they show rugby and football.

DO NOT GO THERE! we went there with two small children for lunch during the week, where we come across the ruddiest ever barman / manager (he is about in his 50s). The Prince of Wales is a solid boozer, notable for two reasons: it is a regular meeting place for Pythons Terry Jones and Michael Palin (on a previous visit Terry Gilliam was also there and complaining about how John Cleese never called him) and it hosts possibly the best pub quiz in London.
