Overview

HIX opened its doors to critical acclaim in 2009 and soon after won London’s Time Out Award for Best New Restaurant in 2010. The restaurant boasts Mark Hix’s signature frequently-changing menu of seasonal British food, and an eclectic collection of mobiles and neons from celebrated British artists.
Situated in the heart of Soho and open all day every day, HIX is the perfect spot for a pre or post theatre meal. A set menu is also available at lunchtime from only £17.50 for 2 courses.
Downstairs is the celebrated Mark’s Bar with its apothecary bar and an eccentric cocktail list designed by mixologist Lee Potter Cavanagh. The bar is open from 12noon - 1am for drinks and bar snax. Whilst Mark's does not take bookings in the bar, the space can be hired exclusively at lunchtime.

Hard not to love this place. Highlights include the porterhouse for 2, house smoked salmon, and an impressive, friendly and knowledgeable staff. No pretensions, just good food at a fair price in a comfortable, if not whimsical, decor.more

Amen to the best bar in town. Nestled behind Piccadilly Circus, tucked away from the crowds and below the main restaurant, downstairs you'll find Mark's - one of the best places I've found to have a drink in central London.

The decor is reminiscent of a gentleman's club/lounge with a funkier edge that feels a bit New York-esque. Either way, sink into the seats, make sure you accept a...more

Hix came recommended as a post-theater meal and we're really glad it did. It was only a minutes walk from the theater, however we did get lost and ended up having the have a taxi take us back the distance we over walked. We were 15-20 minutes late for a reservation (which even at 10:15p on a Monday night looked necessary). That being said, once we got settled, the place was amazing....more

2 stars because it was expensive relative to quality.

I kept expecting to be blown away, and I wasn't. Husband and I went here post theater on his coworker's recommendation. We started with the mushroom app (£14) and a special crayfish dish (£18). Mushroom app was 7 mushrooms and some minced mushroom paste on ONE slice of baguette toast. Crayfish was underseasoned (we are broth addicts...more
