Shambles, which signifies butchers stall/slaughter house, was established in 1983 and is one of the only independent, family run Italian restaurants in the Borough of Richmond, within easy reach of Hampton Court Palace and Twickenham Rugby Ground. Teddington can boast being home to the lock and weir where there is a foot bridge to cross the Thames. Teddington Station is served by South West Trains and buses 285, 281 and R68 pass the front door.<br /><br />The premises is set in a Grade 2 listed, 17th century building which was used as a butchers shop for 250 years, hence the name! There are log fires for cosiness in the winter and a large rear garden with an informal atmosphere, including a boule alley, offering "al fresco" wining and dining when the sun is shining.
