Located on the south side of Clapham Common, Clapham Tandoori has been serving up traditional Indian cuisine to south Londoners for 40 years, and they're not showing any signs of slowing down. They attribute their success to a combination of traditional Indian food, modern décor and their award winning chef. The food, too, is highly acclaimed – several of their signature dishes, including the chicken hariali (chicken breast in ginger, garlic, coriander, lemongrass and Madras sauce), raan mussallam (roasted marinated leg of lamb with an onion and tomato gravy), and chicken xakuti (a spicy south Indian style chicken curry with freshly ground coconut), have won House of Commons awards. The décor is clean and modern – expect lots of bright colours, uncluttered surfaces and glass and, as an added bonus, non-stop Bollywood films playing on wall-mounted TVs add to the buzzing ambience - and service is friendly and accommodating.

The map's got it in the wrong place. Right turn and across the street from the Tube station.
Expensive-ish, bland-ish, not so bad, but not anything to get excited about. Posh curry, but not, really.
Not super greasy, though.
But you'll spend way more dosh than you expected you did.more
First night in London our group of around 12 was running around Clapham trying to find a place that would feed a bunch of Americans at 11pm... thankfully the Clapham Tandoori was more than accommodating.

This is one of those modern Indian restaurants with shiny surfaces, bright colours, and none of the clutter you associate with a more traditional take-away. As such, it lacks the charm of its ancestor but the food makes up for it.
I have been there for a couple of late-night sit-down meals and always been pleased with the result. Plenty of popadoms and chutneys were provided and there are...more
This is a great little curry place in Clapham which is perfect for those jumping off the tube who want to grab a nice filling takeout and go home. They have a huge menu incorporating all your usual Indian meal options, but all done very well.
My fave is the chicken balti with rice and garlic naan, not tremendously exciting but hits the spot here. They cook everything on demand and also...more
