I've been to The River Cafe before and wanted to share the experience with the husband and...not so happy I did. Gorgeous setting of course - that never changes, but other than that not a memorable experience. Ordered drinks and then dinner (appetizers - scallops and carpaccio and mains - monk fish and dover sole -- all good but not exciting). Appetizers arrived and...no wine yet. Waited, and...more
Sigh... What's to say? It's the most wonderful restaurant. The service is delightful, completely professional yet casual. The tables are close together, yet allows for a feeling of intimacy. It's loud and buzzy with lots of staff on the floor, yet you're never rushed and feel as if you're in your own private bubble. Oh my. What a night. There is literally no word to describe my love for italian food...and there is no word to describe our experience on the terrace of The River Cafe last Saturday night. Oh well, I'll still try. But in fairness, (spoiler alert) book a table here...one always find something to celebrate no?

The starter of grilled calamari is absolutely to die for, and the pasta is always cooked to absolute perfection. Desserts are delicious too. Suitable for...more
