My brother had a flat in the neighborhood and I stayed a few weeks with him. We were here every day for 3 weeks, sometimes eating all our meals here since he didn't have a kitchen. The Kiwi bartenders were such great guys and we hung out with them in the Star Bar across the street after 11. I was made part of the family in a couple days, had some really great times here. I miss the local pubs...more

Most English pubs these days are all the same - surly service, fairly crappy food and the same selection of beers. The Drayton Arms is a rare standout, with a different menu and a much different selection of food. They even have outdoor seating! I'd give them five stars, but they don't have TV anywheres - so if there's a big sports match on - check out somewhere else than come over here.more

Could this be my new local? This place has all the things you want in a pub: lots of seating, friendly crowd, relaxed atmosphere decent wine list, and good food. We went here after work on a rainy Friday to find it busy but not rammed to the rafters. Lovely interior, good for a quiet drink or a rowdy group. The food is much better than average pub fare - the Sunday roasts are large and tasty! The staff are really nice and relaxed, and the service is usually pretty swift. The tables can feel a little tacky to the touch - I think it's the cleaning fluid used rather than being dirty tho.
