Situated between Victoria and Belgravia, the first London outpost of this New York bakery is a classy joint with a 25-seat cafe and a pretty enclosed garden.

Pastry chef Dominique Ansel is famous for his cronuts: croissant-doughnut hybrids; chocolate chip cookie shots; banoffee paella; and frozen s’mores (honey marshmallow wrapped around vanilla ice-cream).

Also on the menu is afternoon tea and a raft of savoury options, including salmon and asparagus tartine, and veal meatballs.
