A hidden gem that I'm really glad to have found before I left London.
One of the best services I had in a long time in and Indian restaurant, and a very cosy atmosphere, too.

I'd say this place is poor-fair. The Service was ok, the food was quite bland and they messed up the take away order that we (foolishly) told them we would be taking home after we'd finished our meal.
The atmosphere is cold the place is clinical and the food is tasteless-save yourself and go to Brick lane instead, or if you want to stay in the Smithfield area have a pie in one of the pubs near...more
Smithfield Tandoori has become something of a regular venue for lunchtime expeditions from my work, and for good reason: the food is good, the ambience contemporary and the service efficient and unobtrusive. As Indian restaurants go, it's not as cheap as some - to be expected perhaps given the location - but still value for money.

Be warned: Destructosaurus Nes recently went on a Smithfield rampage, unleashing most of her unyielding terror upon Smithfield Tandoori and resulting in the destruction of nearly everything in her path. The apocalypse is surly nigh as this level of damage hasn't been seen since the infamous "Shoreditch Pub Crawl Incident," which will not be further discussed.
