I love living by the common! Don't be stopped at the big grassy area, head further to the Rookery and orchard behind it. It's gorgeous and worth the walk up the hill.
There's a fantastic and friendly community garden that has volunteer times on Sunday. I planted a tree there and it was fun.

Streatham Common is definitely a hidden gem of South London with hidden depths, I lived near it for 6 months before stumbling across the Rookery which is a collection of gardens and plants with views over to Croydon. There is even a tree planted by my wife at the far end of the Rookery.
The Common itself faces the west which means that there is always a breeze, this makes great for flying...more

Streatham Common is so not common. It is the most amazing place ever. It feels like gnomes and fairies and mystical ponies come out of the bushes at night and throw parties when all of the humans are gone.
