With so many high ratings both here and on other sites, I expected big things out of Mesis Kitchen. And aside from the portions/huge plate of injera bread, the rest wasn't quite up to scratch.

To be fair, I only got one side dish but it smelled heavenly and tasted quite good, which bodes well for the rest of the menu IMO. I got the fasolia, whole beans with carrots and mild spices. I was pretty disappointed with my dinner here sadly. My starter was yummy though, but I thought the flavours were quite western - I had fried pepper and mushrooms which were fresh and tasty. Great fresh Ethiopian food. Seems to be a small family business. The interior is nicely decorated and incredibly clean. Most importantly we really enjoyed the food. Loads of vegetarian options. An enormous meal for two, soft drink and beer came to only £20. Excellent addition to the area!more
