I think I hoped for too much from Itto. It always looked like a nice, cheap and cosy place to eat. It's been around for ages and always seems pretty busy.
The menu didn't have much Japanese food on it and I think what I got in the end was some bad Thai-ish food.
It would be what I expect for take away but if they put tables and chairs in, you want the bar to rise a little.more
I've been a bit of a fan of Itto for the last 4 years, but my last visit was a little off the mark. I left feeling a little sad. How can one of my favourite places in Stoke Newington let me down now? Has Itto gone a little down hill or have I just kind of grown out of it?? So many questions.

Itto was my local takeaway for a long time, and I am addicted to their homemade prawn toast! Sure - the food is a Westernisation of Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese dishes. But Wonton Soup on a cold night or Chicken Katsu Curry (which comes with miso soup) for about 4-6 pounds each is hard to beat.
Eating in, I'd go with a book and have a long, lazy meal. Itto is a family run business, so...more
Itto is fantastic. It is one of those great neighborhood diners that makes steaming bowls of soup with udon or ramen noodles, Chinese and Vietnamese stir fries, tempura, and curries with rice from the far east, all for around a fiver.
