unfortunately this wounderful pub has stopped doing lunches so far as to say they have two types of sandwiches no sharing dishes nothing really that you'd want to pop into to have for a quick lunch which is a shame because on previous visits the menu was quite extensive ...we ended up going to the Red Lion which had a huge range of yummy food.. the prices were also quite high for lunch..shame...more

I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. My broiled cod with smashed potatoes, green beans, and caper sauce was quite good. My friends liked their mushroom chicken pie, fish and chips, and bangers and mash too.

For the uninitiated, you order food and drinks (even tea) at the bar. The tables have a homestyle feel to them. Overall, good local pub.more

So I was invited here by a friend of mine who works for Fuller Brewery (since this is a Fullers pub it did make sense, honest!). There was an event on that evening where for the bargain price of £12 you could go into the spacious pub garden and watch a Shakespeare production that Permanently Bard were putting on.
