I go to the hope a lot after a long walk on the common with my dog, they treat everyone kindly including the dogs and there is a nice relaxed atmosphere to the place.
There is an outside area but it is right next to a busy main road! Very close to wandsworth common train station which is a few minutes away from clapham junctionmore
It's a pub which has good food and a decent drink selection. It has couches. But, most importantly, it's super dog-friendly. Pooches everywhere! A big champagne cooler full of treats for the taking! PUPPIES!!
As someone who loves fluffy creatures, but isn't allowed pets in her flat, that tipped The Hope into solid 4 Star territory.more
I agree it is the best pub on the common, but it's nothing flash.
It simply relies on its location, which is second to none.
If I'm passing I may pop in, but would only go if I was in or around the common.
Barr the location it's an average pub.
I do not think I would go back to this place and I certainly would never eat there again.
I might be doing the pub an injustice, as it does real ale and has the Cask Marque approval of quality. However I foudn the place unbearable.
