The White Hart

About

This Victorian Goliath at the river’s edge has been through a huge transformation of late. The new Head Chef, for example, is BBC MasterChef finalist Tom Whitaker, the new restaurant boasts its own smokery, and there are balconies on each of its three floors. Look out for future master classes, wine tastings, and supplier evenings.

Great pub for all the seasons. If it's warm (or just sunny), then enjoy a drink on the balcony overlooking the river, or grab a table on the pavement below (if the tide allows) during the summer for a casual drink on the waterfront. In the winter, it's great to hang out in one of the cozy chairs by the window, filling your view with the river and the green park areas on the other side. The bar...more

My girlfriend and I decided to try out Ye White Hart after seeing it featured on MasterChef as the place where finalist Tom Whitaker was plying his trade these days

The menu looked good and we were impressed by the pub's location right by the river. However, in the empty 90 cover restaurant, we were surprised to be seated away from the river and had to be asked if we could sit at a table to...more

The food is fine--nothing to write home about and it is pricey for what it is. A small halloumi salad with hummus was 14 pounds if I remember correctly. Ouch!

The inside of the pub is quite nice. So proceed with...more

The food and service in this pub is shocking. No kids menu either.

I had a burger that was cold and overlooked. The waitress couldn't have cared less.

So many good choices round there, this pub isn't worth your time or moneymore

A victim of its own popularity, Ye White Hart concluded my weekend of waiting and waiting and waaaaaaaaaiiiiitttttting for food. However, the drinks were strong, the OJ was pulpiriffic, the outdoor seating was plentiful, the staff was apologetic (and pretty damn funny), and the weather could not have been better. Once Matt and Phil had the ingenious idea of buying bar snacks, I was a happy...more
