London Bridge


There has been a bridge over the Thames at this site for nearly 2000 years. The first one was built by the Romans while the current one opened in 1973. London Bridge is a simple, functional bridge which is sometimes confused with its more elaborate neighbour, Tower Bridge.

Is this the bridge that is falling down in my nursery rhyme? Cool, we're driving across it! We hopped on one of the infamous double decker buses and braved the elements. It took all of a minute to get across. The towers are pretty impressive.more

London bridge is often confused with Tower bridge, especially with other tourists who grew up with images of Tower bridge when singing "London bridges falling down".

Despite being so promised in song, I did not see Fergie's knickers.

After the magnificent opulence of Tower Bridge (London Bridge for Yanks), London Bridge can't compete. It's not at all special but fully functional... which is good because falling into the water unexpectedly is bad. Very bad.more
