About The Grill on the Market

Situated opposite London’s iconic Smithfield Market, The Grill on the Market is a popular lunchtime restaurant and post-work destination for local City slickers, especially those seeking a restaurant near Farringdon. The interior reminds us of a sleek Manhattan steakhouse with its dark wood, shimmery chandeliers and sexy curved leather booths. During the day, The Grill on the Market is ideal for a quick burger between meetings, while in the evening the excellent cocktails and live music make it a great choice for after-work dinners and dates. It's a super restaurant choice if you're headed for an event at the Barbican, too. As you would expect given the location, the menu is a meat-heavy mix of first class steaks as well as a wide selection of fresh sea-produce.. Adventurous diners can tuck into grilled ostrich while seafood fans will love the lobster with garlic butter. Whatever your preference, you won’t leave hungry!

great service, fantastically seared steaks with perfectly cooked chips as an accompaniment. And the sauces are bloody good too. All in all the food is top notch! Add to this reasonably priced, tasty grape juice and some of the best waiting service I've experienced in London for some time, and it moves Grill On The Market into the 'Gem' category of eateries that I've been to in London.more

Stopped by for a petite ribeye with fries. The ribeye was super chewy and did not have a nice char. It also could have been better seasoned. The fries were mostly soggy and I had to pick around for the crispy ones. I say skip this place unless you just want to grab a drink.more

Finding steak done to perfection in London is a challenge. Luckily, I found a beautifully seared to perfection sirloin steak at The Grill on the Market! So juicy and tender. The sirloin was a standard size, with a side (mashed potatoes, baked potatoes or chips). No complaints on the food, it was delicious! Followed by a delicious trifle served in a mason jar. Pretty cool :)

We booked a pretty last minute meal here via Toptable and weren't disappointed! My husband and I both skipped a starter and went straight for the Best of British Aberdeen Angus rib eye. Talk about melt in your mouth! We had a selection of chips, champ potatoes and asparagus, all topped with a sauce Bearnaise. The steak was a perfect medium rare and the plate and vegetables nice and hot.

Maybe it's because I went on a Monday and it was quiet as. But I declared it when I ate it, and I'll declare it again, I want to marry the fillet steak. I took my friends there for a birthday meal. Birthday boy loved it!
