It's OK......

And that pretty much sums it up for me. After hearing rave reviews about Hoi Polloi from friends and colleagues, I was excitedly looking forward to a long lazy sunday brunch with a group of friends over some delicious food and quality gossip.

Had late lunch at the hoi polloi brasserie in the ace hotel. Great brunch menu. We tried the grilled mushroom sandwich with cashel blue and pumpkin seeds. Delicious. My son eat the best scones and clotted cream he ever had. The service is very good, efficient and friendly. Good selection of beers (but none on tap unfortunately) and wine. This space in the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch on the High Street, is absolutely beautiful, full of lightish woods, gold lighting and warm golden hues. I'm a big fan of the ACE in New York and I dig the look of its London outpost, but I'm not super interested in dining here at Hoi Polloi again.

I shared dinner with two pals on Christmas Eve. The company was grand, the food less so.

Walking through the maze that is the Ace Hotel, we marvelled at how well it blended into its Shoreditch surroundings. You feel like you've escaped the hustle and bustle outside, but looking around at the clientele, you know you're definitely still in Shoreditch.
