I like to check out the gift shop often as much as the collection itself. By far not the best museum gift shop I've visited. Large and fully stocked with things, but nothing really exciting or different. As if a library collided somehow with an airport gift shop. Again considering the venue, one would expect it to be almost over the top. Lots of books and postcards, and that's about it....more
If it ever happens that someone gives me a big bag of money and tells me that I can't spend it on nice things like solving the world's ills, then I am going to get on a plane, convert said money to British pounds and spend a great portion of it here.
Until that day arrives, I shall spend what little money I do have here on postcards and random bits and bobs.

I know people who find the gift shops of museums more exciting then the art galleries themselves. Listen - Tate modern has three shops! There is a big one on the ground floor, a smaller one on the 2nd floor and on the 4th floor next to the coffee place, they sell mainly books, posters and card related to the current exhibitions.

One of the best things about Modern art museums is there gift shops. (Okay maybe I exaggerate, but still they should be cool). I mean, I once bought a purse shaped like a watering can at one such shop. They should have damn bizarre jewelery and funny trinkets. They should have lions and tigers and bears OH MY and really well brought up damsels serving tea..
