Overview

The Convoy exhibition tells the story of the Battle of the Atlantic with a particular focus on the Merchant Navy, the commercial fleet that carried vital imports to Britain.

The exhibition traces the development of the Battle of the Atlantic from its earliest days, immediately after the outbreak of war in 1939, until the final surrender of surviving German U-boats in 1945.

Wellington is the last surviving example of a Second World War escort ship in Britain. Since 1948, she has been moored at Temple Stairs along the Thames. She is now both a Heritage Ship and headquarters to the Honourable Company of Master Mariners.
