Merchants Tavern is housed in a Victorian warehouse and former apothecary in Shoreditch, on the edge of the City of London. A collaboration between Neil Borthwick (formerly of Michel Bras and The Square), Angela Hartnett (of Murano) and the founders of the Canteen chain, the bar, dining room and private room offers a full al a carte menu with dishes inspired and influenced by the ingredients and cooking techniques of France, Italy and Spain. Group and function menus are also available. The bar is open all day from 11.00 am offering coffee and tea, a bar menu from noon to 11.00 pm, craft beers, draught cider, cocktails and traditional and natural wines. The venue is closed all day on Mondays and Sunday evenings.

Came here on a Sunday and got the £25 for 3 courses deal- a lovely small plate of baked beets and root veggies with foie gras, amazing pork belly with 3 pieces of roast potatoes (could've done with more), and an okay serving of Chocolate spice cake.

I don't know what was here before but it's a huge space that is perfectly laid out with a warehouse feel and partially glazed ceiling section. There is a bar in the front area with friendly bar tender who knows his stuff. Cocktails, wine and beer on offer.
