Nestled between the City and Spitalfields market The Kings Stores has undergone a major refurbishment and has been repositioned as a stylish pub and 1st floor dining room. The restaurant focusing on seasonal local produce with its open kitchen and 35 cover dining room is set to become part of East London’s already thriving restaurant scene. The Pub’s regal sounding name was adopted as a result of the site’s historical past. The actual location was, during the reign of Henry VIII, a munitions storage depot for the English armies. This stretched to Spitalfields Market and beyond. On visiting this area you will notice that many of the street names and some businesses have titles that relate to this era in London’s historical and somewhat colourful past. The present site was rebuilt in 1902 and retains its many characteristics.
