Hidden gem is definitely the best way to describe this place. I was quite shocked by it! The bar area is stunning...the theatre a decent size and my only complaint was the obnoxious man on the box office! But really surprised I haven't been here before! It's great!more
You're unlikely to find this theatre by accident given it's entrance is down an ally-way just off from Fleet street/New Bridge street. Uninspiring to look at from the outside, the inside, too, holds back on the glitz and glamour. A couple of soulless corridors link the box office to the bar and the auditorium.

A theatre that occupies the space where a Victorian swimming pool used to be. You find it by wandering around the windy little lanes off Fleet Street - it's part of the Bridewell Institute.
There are a lot of lunchtime shows for city workers, but also productions that happen in the evenings in this space oozing with character.

Offering a selection of lunchtime performances, the Bridewell gives and great cultural alternative to otherwise boring, mundane working lunches.
You can take your lunch along and enjoy the rapid pace of these intimate productions.

This comment is based on experience of having booked the place for amateur dramatic productions by the Spread Eagle Players.
The place is delightful. It has a great theatre seating about 130-140 people, with lights and sound facilities, a dressing room, backstage areas and more. And, would you believe it, the whole thing is in the basement of the Bridewell Institute, occupying the former...more
