The Coach & Horses
Overview
Tucked away in Clerkenwell off busy Farringdon Road, The Coach & Horses is that rare thing – a gastropub that does dining and drinking equally well. The restaurant side of it features a concise but very appealing menu; although the selection available changes daily, you can expect to see well done versions of pub classics like fish and chips, pork belly with mash and cabbage, terrines and more. The all year round favourites – homemade bread, crispy golden chips and rich, mustard Scotch eggs - also come highly recommended. Wherever possible, the ingredients are seasonal and locally sourced, and if you're lucky you can spot staff foraging for berries on Hampstead Heath, crab apples in Oval or mushrooms in Epping Forest. Pub purists shouldn't worry, though – there's plenty of space for drinkers in this subtly refurbished Victorian pub, as well as a good range of beers and a lovingly crafted wine list.
