Overview

Stripped-down, relaxed fine-dining in the heart of Fitzrovia. Spread over two floors, Dabbous comprises a dining room and basement bar, both with an industrial but organic feel: exposed brickwork, sheet metal and copper pipes offset by candlelight and natural woods. The menu offers elegant yet restrained food, characterised by clean flavours and simple presentation. Dishes include: salad of fennel, lemon balm and pickled rose petals; barbecued Iberico pork with savoury acorn praline, turnip tops and homemade apple vinegar; and fig leaf icecream. In the basement bar you will find both classic and signature cocktails, such as the Dillusion: cucumber, elderflower and dill mixed with Bloom gin, ice and lemon. A limited selection of bar snacks is offered alongside the full restaurant menu. Tailored music playlists and table service also feature. All in all, a more modern and informal alternative to many of London"s fine dining restaurants.

Whoa. This place is crazy good. Be sure to book 90 days in advance though. It's impossible to get a seat before (unless you know someone that has one but can't make his seating... which is what happened to me here).

I had the honour and privilege of going to this place with 2 other foodies, including BAFTA nominated television producer Melanie Jappy, who delivered such goodies as 'In Search...more

Haha! I got into Dabbous last night! Ok, it was the downstairs bar, but I was pretty excited. When I emailed them back in June, management said dinner was booked through March, 2013, for example. I had hopes, but wasn't expected much.

We were led downstairs and decided to sit ourselves at the empty bar. Charlie, one of the bartenders, started us with the menus and some water. The bar menu is...more

I went there in the opening week, and again as soon as I could get another reservation (annoyingly about 3 months after because it was impossible to get a table for a while after the Evening Standard's stellar review..). The Iberian Pork with acorns is phenomenal and the "egg in hay" is delicious.more

Dabbous is one of those hidden gems just off Goodge St that you'd never end up at unless looking for it specifically. Note: This review is for the bar downstairs and not the restaurant which I hear you need to make a reservation for at least a month in advance.

We ended up on a large table downstairs for leaving drinks as one of my number was heading back to Canada. Our waitress was quite fun...more

Frankly I don't see the hype about this place. Don't get me wrong , the food quality is often high, and the decor very industrial. But reserving months in advance? Out of the tasting menu 50% of the dishes are a big miss. I have the feeling some tables are left empty just for the pleasure of saying no and making it more desirable. Very good service though, too fast at times. Good for veggies....more
