Finally I have found a HUGE art supplies shop in London. Ususally the ones I find are tiny with only the basic essentials.
In this shop you literally have wall to wall art supplies in a large sized room similar to that of a warehouse.
The prices are a bit expensive, but hey... it's central London. Their not over expensive, but higher than the small art shop I used to go to when i lived in...more
Atlantis has officially moved as of the 1st of August.
The new larger premises on Hanbury Street doesn't have the same vibe as the previous location. The store is obviously still experiencing growing pains and hasn't quite got everything in a coherent and user friendly order.
I personally dislike the move as it makes running to Atlantis on lunch-break from University a near impossibility....more
When I was an art student in London this was the place I would go for all my materials. I did quite usual project including jesmonite resin molds and copper wire sculpture and they always seemed to have what I needed in stock, or they would order it in. They also had a great student discount!

Atlantis is amazing - plain and simple. An arts supplies shop which literally has everything you could need, and lots of things that you don't but will buy anyway.
I love gawping at the coloured pencils like a wide eyed kid. Especially good for a 'credit crunch' christmas, if you fancy manking your own cards and presents. It's very cheap too, and the staff are really friendly.

Located in Whitechapel, Atlantis can be a bit of a trek for those not fortunate to live near enough. It certainly is for me, but it is always worth the effort to get there because of the amazing prices they sell their supplies at.
