Sweet deli shop. When entered I felt like I was somewhere back in time - in a best possible way. Loved the interior and the display. Everything seemed really well looked after.

There was all sorts of deliciously looking foods and drinks, I just got hazelnut ice cream, which was of course deli quality.. HEAVENLY!

This location is within a few hundred metres of my house so I am a frequent customer. I still can't work out whether this is a coffee shop cum food store, or a food store with take away options and coffee on the side. There is a fundamental lack of atmosphere and a rather antiseptic upper middle class Englishness about the place.

5 stars for pastries!! If you live anywhere in the area, it's a treat to have such fresh croissants, muffins and bread right around the corner.

Be warned: if you wait too long on a Saturday or Sunday, De Beauvoir begins to run out of the best choices as the day goes on.

- The coffee OK, but you can definitely pass if you're getting pastries to go.

I am a fan of their limited take-away menu. The two creative salads I tried were premade, but tasted sensational, just incredibly fresh. They included a beet salad with fresh feta and a salmon salad with capers and black olives. This magnificent little deli is hidden right in the depths of Islington and probably only frequented by the locals there.

This will explain how they can charge £7 for a pack of bacon! Seriously I've been offered a whole pig for less money. Ok it's amazing, organic, gluten free, vegan friendly bacon that helped bring down the 3rd Reich but still...
