I'm fond of this pub - just off the main road which runs alongside the canal, it's a quirky little place. It serves a range of usual lagers/ ciders/ decent wine list. But it does a very small but effective range of real ales - for which it won the CAMRA North London pub of the year (i think) last year. Board games, quiz night, easy location, what's not to like?

It's not got much by way of charm. at least not the kind of obvious charm sam smiths or other victorian-y posh pubs have, but it's a very real feeling place full that's got an interesting ambiance. give it a go.more

The Baring is a thinking man's pub. They have board games, lots of sport, a great selection of real ales and they run a wicked-good Thursday night pub quiz. I'm not surprised to see that CAMRA are fans. It's certainly not a pub that's going to threaten the nearby Hoxton bars for the weekend high-heels crew.
