The primary role of Ersatz’s representation of artists is a form of advocacy that particularly targets the institutional and curatorial audiences that play a key role in an artist’s career development. Naturally, the sale of work or securing of commissions is also a key aim, though perhaps not as central as within the traditional gallery model. In negotiating where, and in what contexts, work will be shown; it is perhaps the former rather than the latter that is the key principle.
