On the Archway Road in London’s Highgate neighbourhood, the Bengal Bertie’s restaurant is known for providing good, honest Indian curry house food at reasonable prices. On arrival, you’ll be greeted by smart, polite and efficient staff who spend the remainder of your visit working hard to help you enjoy every moment of your meal. Comfortable and clean, the Bengal Bertie’s dining room is a place where you’ll feel immediately at home – it’s a place where you’ll feel inclined to loosen your tie and let your hair down. The Bengal Bertie’s menu is expansive to say the least, covering just about all of your favourite Indian restaurant dishes, from kormas to vindaloos via baltis and biryanis and with a good selection of fish, seafood and vegetarian dishes. Everything is extremely reasonably priced with the set menus particularly popular with diners on a budget.

I love curry, but I don't love curry from Bengal Berties. The Sauces tasted below average (but not terrible), but the meats they use were obviously of a fairly low quality. The rices were nothing special, and the breads forgettable. These guys need to work harder if they are going to compete with the competition, as this area has some excellent Indian take aways.more
So, a blast from the past. As we walked towards this place, we passed a couple of girls that looked a bit like Princess Diana circa 1985, then another couple that reminded me of "Desperately seeking Susan" (starring Madonna innit?). I've not yet had the opportunity to visit the restaurant but Bengal Berties is my go-to for an Indian takeaway. You can wait for up to an hour on a weekend for the delivery but surely the fact that they're so busy is a sign of a decent meal?
I'd recommend the chicken jalfrezi and peshwari naan. Delicious food and friendly service. I'll definitely be popping into the restaurant soon.more
This is our favourite Indian place in North London - both for eating in or out! In fact, I really like coming to this place on a cold winter night, as it is so very cozy inside...not that the interior is very cool or noteworthy; no, it just radiates warmth and comfort...plus the amazing smell from the kitchen!
What should you order? - Well, it all depends on what you like, but here's a...more
My fiance and I were in the area, browsing the goodies at Second Layer and started to get hungry. We asked the owner if he knew of a good curry house nearby and he highly recommended Bengal Berties.
We wandered in, sat down and enjoyed the food so much there that we went back to eat here again the next night!
I'd rate the curry at Bengal Berties amongst the top 5 I've ever eaten.
