We tried the breakfast and luckily because it was a bank holiday they continued to serve breakfast after 12pm. On normal days, they stop serving breakfast at 12pm. We tried the english muffin served with fried eggs, grilled tomato, bacon as well as the english muffin served with fried eggs, portobello mushroom, spinach and cheese. Gail's Bakery is busy and for a good reason. For good bread, cakes and coffee this is the place to go on Portobello Road.

If you don't mind spending a lot for breakfast, you'll find that everything here is absolutely top notch. They're open all day so you can get delicious sandwiches too. If you're on a tight budget, eat here anyway and skip a meal. Their hours are also very good. 7 AM - 7:30 PM weekdays. Sat-Sun 8:00 AM till ?more

I was hoping to get to Books For Cooks during my recent holiday in London - sadly I failed to realize that they are closed on Mondays. It's such a busy restaurant in Portobello Market. We had to wait in the line to get a table. It's a typical British lunch cafe. Most people ordered sandwich and soups here.
