Established in 1684 as a hostelry and overlooking the River Thames, the pub made a perfect stopping off point for the many travellers to and from central London. The building was completely rebuilt in 1845 and became a jazz venue in 1959. Since then it has become an institution both in London and globally. It is loved as much for the fact that it remains a real pub with great beer, as for it's fantastic jazz nights.
