Apollo is one of my favourite cinemas in London. Not only do they have reasonably priced tickets for central London, but they accept Orange 2-4-1 Wednesdays and their concessions are super cheap (like popcorn-and-drink-for-£2 cheap) making this the best cinema value in the history of rip-off Britain.

And it's never really that busy. And the screens and seating are modern industry...more

I went here last night to see Hunter Prey as part of the Science Fiction Festival across town. We've been taking in a fair few cinemas of late, so it's always interesting to compare.

Located just opposite Lillywhites in Piccadilly, its easy to find the Apollo - which is always a good start! We swiftly picked up our tickets in the top foyer (no queue whatsoever) and headed downstairs to check...more

Holy Hell. For a £13 ticket for New Moon you better have a cheap, well-stocked bar and reclining Lay-Z-Boy seating. What's that? You do have those things AND you will let me smuggle in my weight in candy? Oh, well OK then.

When the Greek Gods watched the latest Homer in their cinema it probably looked something like this. Amazing seats, brilliant sound and large screens are a win in my book....more

In an era when chains like Odeon cinemas are bringing high def, high sound quality movies to every town, it's getting harder to justify the high prices for West End cinemas. This site has played host to cinemas in various guises over the years and Apollo have just finished a multi-million pound refurbishment in an overall investment plan for the less glamorous Lower Regent Street area.
