The latest in a long line of restaurants headed up by the Chowdury family since way back in 1957, Gufaa in London’s Angel is the result of years of practice and experience. Situated amongst the bars and shops of trendy Upper Street, Gufaa makes the perfect stop off before hitting the local nightlife but is equally the kind of relaxed, friendly restaurant you can make a night of. Decorated in a contemporary, light and simple style, Gufaa has an upmarket look, suited to everything from business lunches to romantic dining. A nice look to this Indian restaurant. A snap decision to eat here, at Gufaa, as time was tight and we were hungry. After a warm-ish welcome from one waiter, a different waiter was a little slow on the uptake with our orders but we got there in the end. On my first night in London, I wanted to have Indian food. By the time I arrived in Islington (where I was staying while visiting a friend), it was already 10PM but my friend said she knew a good place that would still be open. She took me to Gufaa which was just right across the street from the Angel tube stop.

We had takeout from here a couple of times. The takeout price was 20% off and we thought it was a nice deal. The food was flavorful and the staff was very pleasant. I really enjoyed the chili naan.
