L'Abat Jour
Overview
The City of London is awash with restaurants but few have the same warmth and personality of L’abat Jour, a modern classic Italian brasserie with great food at unusually reasonable prices. The menus of L’abat Jour are full of favourite Italianite dishes, ranging from delicious pasta choices to authentic stone baked pizzas and sophisticated meat and fish dishes. The rather retro dessert trolley is a welcome visitor after dining, giving guests the option to eye before they buy, which they undoubtedly will. Of course a good selection of wines is available, many from the grape growing regions of Italy as well as other international choices. Service is efficient but also friendly at L’abat Jour while surroundings are a pleasing balance of traditional and contemporary – the ground floor is light and airy, overlooking the local cricket ground to the rear, while below is cosier, with a more bar-esque feel. At front, you’ll find just a couple of pavement tables, ideal for watching the world.
